I was shocked and saddened to learn of Joe’s sudden passing. I had Joe in math class at Quincy High School but I really got to know him when my husband, Bob Basiliere, worked with him on the Baseball Hall of Fame. He was truly one of the nicest people I knew at Quincy High School. His kindness, compassion and love for his family and the City of Quincy made him a very special person and friend to everyone who knew him. He leaves a great legacy and will continue to live on and shine brightly in all the wonderful memories we all share of him.

We were shocked to hear about Joe’s passing. Joe was a huge advocate of all things baseball. That is how we came to meet him. He quickly became a dear friend of the family. He will be sorely missed

I served in the Navy with Joe over 40 years ago. There were perhaps a half-dozen of us from Massachusetts who served together, and we frequently talked about "back home." Joe's stories were always more interesting than mine, and I later (much later) realized that Joe led a blessed life, in spite of or perhaps because of the personal tragedies that he endured. For the last 15 or 20 years, Joe has called me once or twice a year, usually around the holidays, like Thanksgiving and Christmas, just to ask how I was doing. Now that I realize how very, very many friends Joe has, it is amazing that he made the time to check in with me ... an old friend from his past. It's not like he was sitting around with nothing to do! Joe was a unique and special person. I don't know anyone else who even comes close. He will be missed. My condolences to Joe's entire family of loved ones and friends. Steve Judycki Wilbraham, MA

To The Entire Brill Family, Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of Joe. He was truly a great man. I knew Joe throughout the years and he always had a smile on his face and a story to tell even when I would see him at Fenway Park at a Red Sox game, which we all know he loved. Quincy has lost a great man. Joe will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. God Bless, Joe Lowry

Bob, Clemmie, Terry and family, Our deepest sympathy to all of you on the loss of Joe. He was a friend to everyone and always had one of his "corny" jokes ready to tell anyone that would listen. He will be missed by many here on earth but I'm sure he is already busy organizing an event up with God. May he rest in peace forever.

Joe truly was larger than life. I’ve never known anyone so devoted to his wife and children, his city, his country and his God. My heart goes out to his entire family, especially his wife Terry, these are very difficult days I know. You are missed Joe, heaven has gained an Angel but Earth has lost one of its best! Rest In Peace my friend!
