I saw Thomas' name n the Globe and recognized it as someone I went to Boston Latin with (FYI, only last names were used by teachers and students.) i verified age (same as mine) and Boston Latin, so he was indeed my classmate at BLS. Even though I saw him last about 65 years ago, I remember classmates who impressed me. He had an admirable career, and clearly was loved by all. I wish his military service had been mentioned. My sincere condolences to all. Joel Goldberg Newton Centre, MA

A sweet man who loved his sweets. He will sorely be missed at all the family gatherings. We can hear him in our heads now, responding to a query about he who shall not be named, "Please . . ."
